Paul Sigafus, M.S., LMFT, Certified EFT Therapist
Colorado Counseling Center Director
Paul Sigafus, LMFT, Director & Certified EFT TherapistI am often asked how I chose to become a therapist. My answer, more now than ever, is that seeing clients find a greater sense of connection, peace, purpose, and hope is the most fulfilling work that I can imagine. When couples begin to feel cherished by each other again, and when individuals discover the best parts of themselves, I know that my work has made the world a better place.
Coming to counseling can be difficult, so it is very important that you find a great therapist who understands where you are coming from and is excellent in helping people with the sorts of challenges you are facing. I hope that by reading a little about my experiences, you will have a better feel for whether I might be the "right fit" for you.
As far back as I can remember, I have intuitively known that our relationships are the most powerful factor in determining our happiness, growth, and fulfillment. I noticed early on that when someone's relationships were going well, they not only found great happiness and peace, but they also were able to face the world with greater courage and confidence. On the other hand, it was very clear to me that when a person's relationships were going poorly, their lives were often filled with insecurity, turmoil, and sadness. More than anything else, relationships seemed to be the source of both the greatest happiness as well as the greatest pain.
Watching this dynamic process of heartache and healing, I earned degrees in both Human Development and Marriage and Family Therapy. Now, over ten years into my experience as a therapist, I continue to have an insatiable thirst for learning about how to better help those in need.
However dark things may seem, my mission is to help couples and individuals find hope and healing. I have seen hundreds of couples and individuals find their way to a happier and more connected life. Each of the therapists whom I have hired shares this mission; when you come for help at Colorado Counseling Center, you can be sure that you will receive excellent services. On the occasions where someone's problems lie outside of our areas of expertise, we are devoted to helping connect them with the best care possible. Their well-being is the bottom line.
